Transsiberian

People often stay at Transsiberian precisely before taking the Trans-Siberian train. Getting a mention in the Lonely Planet guide did a lot to help this. At the entrance, there is a very realistic-looking “Moscow‒Vladivostok” plaque that the administrator made. On the whole, the Transsiberian is a pretty rough dwelling, somewhat reminiscent of a squat or a frat-house, and is unlikely to suit those expecting glass shower cabins and a newly-fitted out kitchen. Yet many of these drawbacks are easy to forgive when you chat to administrator Svenya, a girl with a shaved head who fits wonderfully into the hostel’s interior. Pets, including dogs, are welcome here and the hostel has its own kitten. Double rooms fly out fastest during peak season, then triples and four-person rooms. Guests can use a desktop computer and there is Wi-Fi in all rooms, although it doesn’t reach the 10-bed dorm as well. Incidentally, this is basically an 8-bed dorm too, because two beds are in a separate nook behind a curtain.
